   That verse in more context Romans 2:6-8 "Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,"

  In Romans 2:6-8 one group of people is "by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life"

the other group mentioned "unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath"

  From everything I can read in the bible you are either one or the other group. There is just sheep and goats.
   But the wonderful thing is.............we pry don't need to be doing a ton of good deeds every week........sure god wants us to be a peculiar people zealous of good works.
   I tell you......................the few good works I do do I get zealous for them every week.

 Because of verses like Romans 2 where it says.........."Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:"

  That "patient continuance in well doing" is for a reason, a fantastic reason.

but how cool is it that a few good deeds go a looooooooooooong way every week. - cool

  1 Peter 4:17-18 "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?"

  It is my estimation of this bible verse, that the real reason we are saved by grace is because 0% of us are meeting God's actual idea of "what a christian should look like on the good deeds front"............Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" 

  I know though, I know the "look like a fancy super saint ultra holy christian" schitck that is out there.
